It’s spring. The yellow coating on your windshield makes it so. Pop the Claritin and venture outside for a weekend of fun that gives laughs, live music, food and baseball, among other fun events, a place on the calendar.  

John Heffron Live – Chuckles Comedy House – Friday, Saturday and Sunday
The Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central funny man makes his way to the City With Soul for three nights of early shows. The Shaun Jones Experience hits the stage after (with special guest Jordan Jackson and host Nardo Blackmon). Each show requires separate tickets.

Run Pi, Eat Pie – Urban Foxes – Saturday, 9 a.m. Canceled
Meet at Urban Foxes to run, walk, or stroll 3.14 miles around beautiful Belhaven, ending the run with pie and other desserts. The event is free and presented in part by Fondren Fitness.

Irish Foodie Night – 1908 Provisions – Saturday, 6 p.m.
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the night features a cash bar, with Guiness specials, Irish dance lessons by members of the Celtic Heritage Society and an Irish dinner served family-style. Tickets are $29 per person and reservations are required.

Newscast – Duling Hall – Saturday, 8 p.m.
“Synth-fueled, sugar-coated pop,” the Jackson-based band is home from a week-long tour, playing hooky, melodic music. Hear them with openers Lo Noom and Pink Palaces. Tickets are available.

Black Sox Baseball – Smith-Wills Stadium – Sunday, 5 p.m.
The bats crack this weekend at the newly-refreshed ball park with a team that’s been swinging since 1941. The Black Sox are comprised of players from the Pine Belt, the Jackson-Metro area and a few players that travel from Tennessee and Alabama. Adult admission is $5 and kids 12 and under are free. Concessions will be available.
