Fondren Restaurant Week is October 10-18. Rooster’s is shown here.

The week ahead has food and fun for all. But Thursday seems especially busy, considering three of our highlights all happen the same night. How do you choose? You don’t: give it a go and hit them up, one by one.

Fondren Restaurant Week – Historic Downtown Fondren Business District – through Sunday
Visit more than 20 locally-owned restaurants, bars, bakeries and coffee shops – all within walking distance of each other – for a safe and socially distanced experience in Jackson’s Fondren neighborhood. Participating restaurants are listed at eatdrinkfondren.com. Special events and promotions are on Instagram at @VisitFondren.

Catholic Charities Purple Dress Run – The District at Eastover – Thursday 6 p.m.
Grab your purple running “dress” and take part in a 5K run/walk through Jackson to benefit Catholic Charities Shelter for Battered Families. Plan to stay for the after-party on the District Green with music by Cole, drinks (Cathead Vodka and Capital City) and edible cookie dough from 6:30-8 p.m. Register at raceroster.com/events/2020/33350/purple-dress-run. The registration fee, $35.

Museum After Hours – Mississippi Museum of Art – Thursday 6 p.m.
Returning in-person to The Art Garden at MMA, create a team for Trick or Treat Trivia, go on a spooky tour of the Museum, make yourself a BOO-zy cocktail at the bar, and stay late for a socially-distant “City in the Grass” inspired screening of “The Wizard of Oz.” Costumes (and matching masks) are encouraged! To monitor attendance numbers, register here.

The Brewery Comedy Tour – Hops & Habannas outdoor cabana – Thursday 7 p.m.
Free laughs are on tap for this nationwide tour that has already hit 1,600 breweries across the U.S. More than a dozen New York and L.A. stand-ups are currently on the road, sampling the local fare, local brews and providing the finest and funniest in comedy entertainment. The lineup, whose credits include top festivals, TV and major club appearances, will be entertaining you in Fondren. There is a two-drink minimum.

Fondren Highlights Tour – Historic Downtown Fondren Business District – Friday 6:30 p.m.
Join Jane Jones’ More Than a Tourist for a fun 1.5-hour highlight tour of the Fondren neighborhood, showcasing past, present and future aspects of the neighborhood. Eat or drink your way around before or after the tour. Tickets are $20 on Eventbrite.
