Ashleigh Coleman: Hold Nothing Back – Fischer Galleries – Thursday Noon – 6 p.m.
Last showing at Claire Elizabeth Gallery in New Orleans in 2020, Coleman returns with a new set of photographic works in this first exhibition at Fischer Galleries in some time. Coleman’s photographs have exhibited across the United States, including solo shows at the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture. Masks required.
Introducing Shani Peters, 2021 CAPE Artist in Residence – Virtual – Thursday 6 p.m.
Join the Mississippi Museum of Art as they welcome Shani Peters, the 2021 Center for Art and Public Exchange (CAPE) National Artist in Residence for this special online presentation as she introduces herself, past work, and previews her upcoming residency project, “Collective Care for Black Mothers and Caretakers.” By hosting this talk virtually on Zoom Webinar, attendees can ask questions, make observations, and engage with this event safely from home. Trivia Night | St. Paddy’s Edition – Highland Village – Friday 7 p.m.
Join Highland Village for a St. Paddy’s inspired evening of trivia. Prizes will be awarded to the first & second place teams, best team name, best dressed and most spirited team. The first craft beer will be on HV and the fun will take place in The Plaza next to Beagle Bagel. Aplos will also be joining the celebration with a cash bar. This is a 21 & up event.
Belhaven Bites & Stroll w More Than a Tourist – Belhaven Town Center – Saturday 2 p.m.
Celebrate the history, architecture, food & libations of Belhaven, incorporated into the City of Jackson in 1925, the home of Belhaven University and Eudora Welty’s home. The tour begins at the Belhaven Town Center (1121 N Jefferson St.) and finishes at Lou’s Full-Serv Restaurant with a drink and a few snacks. Refreshments will be served along the route and are included in the price. Tickets are $67.
Sips & Sounds – Second Saturday – The District at Eastover – Saturday 6 p.m.
Victoria Lynn will perform on the District Green. With go-cups, takeout food from Fine & Dandy and Cultivation Food Hall, and plenty of space to spread out, picnic blankets and chairs are welcome. It’s Family-friendly, too.
Jackson State University vs. Mississippi Valley – MS Veteran’s Stadium – Saturday 1 p.m.
The Tigers come into Saturday’s game 3-0 with a win against Edward Waters and Grambling and a forfeit from Alcorn State. The game is set to broadcast on ESPN2. Tickets (before fees) start at $23 each on Ticketmaster.
