Gotten into the groove of 2021? If not, we’ll ease you into this week’s event scene with art, comedy, family science fun and your chance to explore museums for free. Read on!

Creative Healing Studio – Virtual – Wednesday 12:30 p.m.
A weekly art therapy gathering for adults being treated for cancer or those with a cancer diagnosis in their past, this MS Museum of Art event is lead led by licensed art therapist Susan Anand. Using the practices of art therapy in an open-studio setting, this program helps participants manage stress, cope with change, and gain personal insight or self-awareness. In response to COVID-19, the group is meeting on Zoom. Registration is required (contact Susan Anand at smainlay@aol.com).

Pierre – Chuckles Comedy House – Friday-Sunday
Pierre, with five shows this weekend, comes to JXN! The comedian is known for appearances on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, BET Comicview, Showtime at the Apollo, Martin Lawrence Presents First Amendment and other late nite TV shows. He has worked alongside Oscar Winner Halle Berry, Bill Bellamy and Leslie Nielsen. Pierre has also toured with R&B acts Mary J Blige, Dru Hill, New Edition, Patti Labelle and Frankie Beverly. COVID-19 safety guidelines will be enforced, seating is limited and a two item minimum purchase and casual dress is required. Tickets are available here.

Family Fun Science Day – Mississippi Museum of Natural Science – Saturday – 10 a.m.
Want to learn more about science as a family? Join MMNS to experience science in a fun and socially-distanced way. Meet Mississippi wildlife, develop your mind with brainteasers and see STEM demos, great way for families with elementary and middle school-aged children to begin the New Year. Timed arrival reservations and masks are required ($6 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 and up, under 3 are free. MMNS Foundation Members (included with MMNSF Membership). FREE Sundays – Two Museums – Sunday Noon – 4 p.m.
Experience the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museums plus the special exhibition, Mississippi Distilled, for free. You are encouraged to purchase tickets online at tickets.mdah.ms.gov. The maximum number of people per group is twenty.
