This week’s list showcases opportunities to give, chances to support local and some holiday merriment mixed in! We’ve even included some suggestions of spots to grab takeout.

Midtown Holiday (Virtual) Tours 2020 – Virtual – Through December 12
MIdtown Jackson studios and businesses (like Offbeat, AND Gallery and Jax-Zen Healing Arts Center, among others) – feature talented artists, artisans, music, food, services and products MADE IN MIDTOWN. They are collectively showcasing themselves virtually this year. Do your holiday shopping with during this week-long event through video tours of many of the neighborhood’s businesses. Good Samaritan Center’s Potato Party – Good Samaritan Center – Tuesday 8:45 a.m.
Good Sam will receive 38,400 POUNDS of sweet potatoes from #HubfortheHungry partner Extra Table. This event will take place in conjunction with Good Sam’s “all-in sort day.” Volunteers will be needed to sort clothes, operate a forklift, carry boxes of potatoes, etc. The truckload of potatoes will arrive around 9 a.m. If you can help, RSVP on Facebook (link above) or by calling (601) 355-6276.

Homestead for the Holidays – MS Ag Museum – Thursday & Friday 5-8 p.m.
Enjoy a sampler breakfast for supper, storytime with Mrs. Claus and get your picture made with Santa and Rudolph as you stroll through Small Town and see the demonstrators, visit the Fortenberry-Parkman Farmstead and experience Christmas during the late 1800s.

Merry Movie Night – Belhaven Town Center – Thursday 6 p.m.
Featuring “Elf,” (bring your own chairs and blankets for the evening), the evening also serves as a drive for Mission First. Bring towels, socks and blankets to support the organization’s efforts to help the homeless. And, plan to dine with Elvie’s, located on-site! To help BTC maintain appropriate crowd size limits, they’re asking you to register in advance. They ask that guests be mindful of social distancing.

Women’s Art Pop-Up – Fondren Public – Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Celebrating the handcrafted work of female makers, Saturday’s event (outdoors at Fondren Public), brings together nearly a dozen artists, jewelers and more. Scheduled to participate are: Casey Jennings, Michaela Fisk, Anna Ballard Fair, Jordan Hanky, Ginger Williams Cook, Mallory Kay, Kaiyla Mckenzie, Hannah Hester, Zita Webb, Thabi Moyo and Urthly Kreations Wellness. Masks are required.

Annual “Toys for Tots” Gift Card Sale – The Pig & Pint – Saturday 11 a.m.
Receive 50% off all gift cards on Saturday, December 12 when you bring a new unwrapped toy for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation! (One toy, valued at at least $5, is required per gift card. Limit $100 per gift card).
