Monday Meetup Trivia Night – Barrelhouse – Monday 6 pm
Join Mississippi Capital City Pride for trivia hosted by Courtney Cruise, plus half-priced appetizers and an all-night happy hour. The event is free.
National Oyster Day & Birthday “Shellabration” – Saltine Restaurant – Wednesday-Thursday
Celebrate seven years of Saltine and National Oyster Day from open to close to enjoy $1 Gulf oysters (dine-in only) and complimentary birthday cake for dine-in or takeout (with purchase of any entree).
In-Person Signing | Bobby Rush – Lemuria Bookstore – Wednesday 4:30 pm
Grammy-winner and Jacksonian, bluesman Bobby Rush, will sign his new book, “I Ain’t Studin’ Ya: My American Blues Story,” followed by a book discussion at 5:30 pm.
Eagles Tribute: The Long Run – Duling Hall – Wednesday 8 pm
Some of Florida’s finest and most respected musicians – individual members of the band have performed with or shared the stage with great artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steppenwolf, Eddie Money, The Beach Boys, .38 Special, Doobie Brothers and Trace Adkins, just to name a few – The Long Run reproduces the sound that made the Eagles one of the most successful musical groups in rock and roll history. Tickets are available.
Paws On The Patio – Fairview Inn – Thursday 5 pm
Supporting a worthy cause you and your pet both can enjoy – Animal Rescue Fund (ARF): buy a few tickets, bid on an auction item, indulge in yummy snacks and cocktails at this free event. The Library will also have their full dinner menu available, there will doggy pools and pet micro-chipping available.
Fondren Live – Summer Series – Historic Downtown Fondren – Thursday 6 pm
First Thursdays though September, the Fondren Historic Business District comes alive with live music (including “Bigg Sexyy” Hampton and the H-Funk Band), food and drink specials and fun for families. Free.
Mississippi Ag & Outdoor Expo – Mississippi Fairgrounds – Friday-Sunday
Mississippi’s premier outdoor show will feature large displays of everything for fishing, hunting, agriculture and outdoor recreation, a Big Buck contest, and activities for the entire family including Fetch & Fish High Flying Dogs and Ax Women Loggers of Maine plus live music featuring Tyler Farr and Adam Doleac (Saturday August 7).
Live Jazz Brunch – Ecoshed – Saturday 9 am – 1 pm
Original live jazz by creative musicians from New Orleans performing in the Atrium meets a brunch option changed weekly through the three-Saturday run (August 7, 14 and 21). This weekend, hear the Laelume Trio and enjoy a “biscuit buffet,” plus unlimited Bloody Marys and Mimosas ($50). Performance tickets are $15. Purchase tickets here.
Sneaker Mania Tradeshow – Jackson Convention Complex – Saturday Noon
Buy, sell or trade kicks with sneaker heads like you! UGK’s Bun B is the special guest presenter. Tickets start at $7 on Eventbrite.
