Sound Bath – Ecoshed – Wednesday 6 pm
Sessions combine extremely restful yoga and breath work to release tension and stress before embarking on a meditative sound journey. Classes are $25 a person with a 20 person limit at this time. Bring your own mat if you like, but mats are available. Masks are required at Ecoshed.
Lan Bar Barrel Racing – The Mega Barrel Race – Mississippi Fairgrounds – Thursday
Barrel racing with a $60,000 purse, an exciting equine action that annually calls Jackson home.
LIVE Music in the AC – Summer Series – Cultivation Food Hall – Thursday 6pm
Live music on the green returns in September, but until, then, enjoy the cool air inside! John Causey performs this week with dining and drinks available from one of nine Cultivation vendors. Free and family-friendly.
Kerwin Claiborne Live Chuckles Comedy House – Friday-Sunday
Big Bird, Kerwin Claiborne, is coming to the stage Jackson. There is a two item minimum purchase. Casual dress and masks are required.
Taylor Hicks & the Delta Funk Revival – Duling Hall – Friday 8 pm – CANCELED
BankPlus presents American Idol Taylor Hicks & the Delta Funk Revival benefitting Friends of Children’s Hospital. With an all-star band of seasoned touring musicians coming together for one night only, the sound is a bluesy, soulful funk and jam based rock by Hicks and Jason Harrelson Music (Of Hannaward Pass) with Patrick Smith (of The Patrick Smith Band).
Hard Rock Night – Hal & Mal’s Friday 8 pm
Hear from Voodoo13 with American Automatic and Spacer Doors Cover is $10. Tickets are available.
Zoo Volunteer Day – Jackson Zoo – Saturday 8 am
Volunteers are needed to help clean benches, rocking chairs, in preparation for them to be repainted. Meet at the Zoo entrance at 8 am. 10-15 volunteers can knock this project out in less than two hours. Students can earn community service hours. When complete, visit the zoo at no cost. Live Jazz Brunch – Ecoshed – Saturday 9 am – 1 pm
Original live jazz by creative musicians from New Orleans performing in the Atrium meets a brunch option changed weekly through the three-Saturday run (August 7, 14 and 21). Brunch + unlimited Bloody Marys and Mimosas – $50; Brunch + non-alcoholic drinks – $35; performance-only – $15. Purchase tickets here.
The Mississippi Black Business Expo – outside, between Jackson Convention Complex & MS Arts Center – Saturday Noon
Presented by the Mississippi Black Pages – a directory with more than 1,000 Black-owned businesses and services in the state – and the City of Jackson. Over 200 vendors are anticipated promoting retail products and non-profit services. Free and family friendly.
Magnolia Sunset Markets – Foot Print Farms – Saturday 4 pm
Magnolia Sunset Markets, a curated urban marketplace mixed with over 25+ vendors from across the southern region, is set outdoors at Foot Print Farms. The market will take place every third Saturday through the end of the year, weather permitting. Entry is $5 (per vehicle – advance pay here); receive a $5 food voucher when you spend $10 on fresh produce with Foot Print Farms.
Kicking with Phantom Mile, Weakhearts and Big Clown – CS’s – Saturday 7 pm
Four bands – Jackson’s Kicking, Phantom Mile and Weakhearts and Memphis’s Big Clown play Midtown burger joint CS’s. it’s $10 at the door. Masks are required per Amended Safe Recovery Jackson Executive Order.
