Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center, a City of Jackson museum, will reopen October 19. The hours will be Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The museum has been shuttered since COVID-19 forced its closure in March.

A press release says the museum will operate with COVID-19 protocols in place, including the requirement to wear a face covering.

Smith Robertson is a comprehensive depository of artifacts portraying African-American Misissippians’ experience in the fields of history, art, music and literature. The museum was originally Smith Robertson Elementary School, the first public school for African-American children in the city of Jackson.
