Update: Story updated to reflect that Fonden Live is canceled for September 2, 2021 due to the resurgence of COVID-19.

The first Thursday of the month in Fondren has been known been many names: Fondren After 5, Fondren’s First Thursday and, now, Fondren Live.

Fondren Live offers an evening to experience the neighborhood with a particular emphasis on street performers. The event will be held June-Augustfrom 6-8 pm.

“Fondren is always a great place to walk around and sample great food and drink,” said Rebecca Garrison, Executive Director of Fondren Renaissance Foundation. “With Fondren Live, we’ll be adding live entertainment along the walking route.”

Fondren Live will begin at 6 p.m. with buskers performing until around 8 p.m. throughout the historic business district. From 6-10 p.m., there will be live music and fire-eating buskers performing in the parking lot of Fondren Public and Fondren Guitars.

Performers will accept tips via cash or apps like Venmo or Cash App. A map of buskers will be available from the SoFo Selfie Station near Walker’s Drive-In.

Jackson Hinds County Comprehensive Health Center will provide free walk-up Moderna vaccinations near the Fondren Station post office on Fondren Place. The Center is returning for the July 1 event for second doses (if you have recently received a first dose of Moderna, complete your second dose at Fondren Live).
